Obituary: Ralph Kiser
Written by Administrator

E. Ralph Kiser, 89, of Staunton passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Shenandoah House in Fishersville. Born Friday, April 11, 1919, in Carbo, he was a son of the late Charles and Hattie (Southland) Kiser.

A member of First Baptist Church in Staunton, Ralph had served as a deacon for many years. He was proud to be not only an alumni of VSDB, but Ralph also had been an instructor and coach there for many years. Mr. Kiser's loyalty to the VSDB School didn't stop there. He participated in all the sporting activities, played an integral role in the introduction of the Sports Hall of Fame at VSDB and was a dormitory supervisor for more than 30 years. It would be safe to say, and many will tell you, that one of Mr. Kiser's true desires and joys in life was to support everything VSDB.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Fridley) Kiser, with whom he shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 60 years; four brothers, Clyde, Layman, Bobby and James Kiser; and two sisters, Peggy Kiser and Helen (Kiser) Markham. Ralph is survived by two sons, Jim Kiser and his wife, Sheree, and Charles and his wife, Elsa, all of Staunton; three brothers, Charles Jr. and Billy Kiser, both of Castlewood, and Jack Kiser of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Hunter Kiser of Staunton and Danielle Hacking and her husband, Rixon, of New York.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, in First Baptist Church at 406 W. Frederick St. in Staunton, with the Rev. Steven Traylor and Pastor Greg Dodge officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleums & Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Active pallbearers will include Jerry Clarke, Victor Santos, Dan Pritchett, Rocco De Vito, Race Drake and Dick Koch.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, in the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory at 18 W. Frederick St.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.

Relatives and friends are invited to view this obituary and share condolences and memories with the family at www.reynoldshamrickfuneralhomes.com.

TownSigner Gets a Facelift!
Written by Administrator

As some of you may have noticed, as of lately, TownSigner seemed almost dead. I couldn't keep up with the updates; so, I started to neglect the site until very recently, a friend of mine mentioned this very site in an mass e-mail. Realizing that, I wrote her an e-mail informing her that TownSigner was basically defunct. Her response was simple and got me off my bum and busy with updating TownSigner:

"But TownSigner is the only source of Silent Dinner schedule."

This meant I couldn't diddle-daddle and forget about this site. Instead of being the only one involved with TownSigner, I've decided to give the site a facelift so, you, the readers, can contribute and keep this site up to date! As you can see, several new features have been added in here: the Forums --  where any registered user can post and read comments about events, issues, information, and so forth in Hampton Roads area, the Live Chat! -- this feature enables users to talk to each other in realtime. These rooms and forums, for the time being, are unmoderated.

Also, as registered users, you can submit articles to the front page. Click Here for more instructions.

Feel free to contact us with any questions, feedbacks, and/or suggestions!

Warmest,

Ben
